Just to let y'all know, this is my first time doing something like this for a different website than my own. I didn't include my website above, if you noticed, mostly because it's still in the making. It'll probably be here within a few months. You know how websites are. First off, the layout may look familiar. This is because I copied Antookis' FAQ/Walkthru (for Castlevania64) from the webpage and just modified it to my own version. Just want to let Antookis know that I'm not trying to make him upset for copying his style, but I must admit it's pretty damn good, so I'll stick with it. =8^) Secondly, this is a walkthru for Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness, NOT Castlevania64! The new Castlevania is different in a lot of ways than the first one for N64. Third, viewing this document with Courier New font and size 10 would be best. Otherwise, some of the features will be messed up. The title for example, would be way out of wack, so keep it on font Courier New, size 10. Fourth, the game is explained through the NORMAL difficultly level. The EASY difficultly is basically the same, but some of the items are different, and certain sections of the game will have less enemies (and easier enemies), and damage levels are different. The HARD difficultly is basically the opposite of EASY, just to clear it up. And finally, don't get upset if some of the info in this walkthru isn't EXACTLY correct! I'm only human you know! If you're stuck in an area that this walkthru doesn't explain, figure it out yourself! You're smart, you can do it! If you aren't, then why did you buy the game? Just explore everything! Many levels will have some things to figure out, but none are TOO hard! Now sit back, relax, and read on! ~Chris Knox (Smartz) ======================================================== [2] )))))))))))))))) Version Updates ((((((((((((((((((( ======================================================== Version 1.0 3/30/00 - First edition of FAQ/Walkthru. - Contains all cast members with full background. - Full History of EVERY Castlevania game included with info, plot, title and release. - Has starting levels for Cornell only. - Includes all special weapons and normal items. - Includes starting enemies. BLUE CRESENT MOON | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Occupation: Man-Wolf Age: N/A Height: 179 cm Weight: 76 kg Likes: Being a wolf-Throwing energy-Slashing stuff-His white hair Dislikes: Skeletons, Vampires, Count Drac Main Weapon: Projectile energy scythe Second Weapon: Claw slash First Costume: Blue pants; long-sleeve, blue shirt, unbuttoned Second Costume: Green pants; no shoes; chain on ankle; T-shirt; arm sleeves The new man-wolf character of Castlevania has no real connection to the traditional Belmonts, so he can't officially kill Count Drac, but he still has to save his sister from him. After disgarding his life-long friend and rival, Ortega, Cornell leaves his village for a year to go through some several ascetic training, which equipped him with a body of near immortality and the ability to transform into a werewolf, or "man-beast." Upon his return to the village, he finds that Count Drac's evil baddies have set the village on fire, at the command of Ortega, and kidnapped Cornell's sister, Ada. Taking his sister's pendant, he leaves the village and onward to Dracula's castle. Even though Cornell is a fierce fighter, he has a heart of gold, and is calm and kind-hearted inside of his vengeful appearance. His love for his sister is in fact so great, that he gives up his man-wolf power to save her. (You'll see this when you defeat Dracula Ultimate) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- | HENRY | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Occupation: Soldier Age: 18 Height: 187 cm Weight: 81 kg Likes: Six-shot~guns-Helmets-Sword Dislikes: Ugly monsters, Chainsaw Frankenstein Main Weapon: Six-shot gun Second Weapon: Short sword Costume: Pants with shin armor; upper armor; helmet with red cross Not much is known about Henry's past, but it is known that he once lived at the Villa in Transylvania with his mother, Mary, and father, J.A. Oldrey. When Count Drac was awakened and evil spirits took over his house and garden, he escaped the Villa to the garden. Unfortunately, he ran into Chainsaw Frankenstein, who just happened to try to saw him in half, so he ran like mad. Once out of Frankenstein's grasp, he found Cornell, who helped him escape the garden and leave Transylvania in hope of saving his life. Henry later met up with Cornell again (the ending of the Cornell game) and they lived together. Henry eventually became a soldier in eight years, working for the church. When news arrived of children locked in Transylvania, Henry was called upon by the church to retrieve the children. He must find six children in six areas in seven days. Since Henry once lived there, it was easy for him to find all the children before the seventh day was up and Transylvania sank into the lake. Can you find all six kids? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- | REINHARDT SCHNEIDER | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---Originally written by Antookis--- Occupation: Vampire Killer Age: 25 Height: 183 cm Weight: 78 kg Likes: Whip-Dagger-Axe-Holy~Water-Cross Training...... Dislikes: Vampires, Zombies, Vampire~Zombies Main Weapon: Whip Second Weapon: Dagger First Costume: Pants with armor torso-up; no helmet Second Costume: Pants with green boots, gloves; shirt like football pads Say this one seven times fast. The male role of the game goes to Schneider, a fur wearing, whip cracking, knife slashing all around vampire hunter. Schneider himself is actually a calm fellow, taking time to understand problems but something else resides within him. The most recent in line from the long line of Belmonts who have devoted their lives to be vampire killer. However, the memories of these heroes, Ralph, Simon and Richter, who have helped these blighted lands has faded with time. He receives a warning from his father, "Some day, you may have no choice except to fight." After Reihnhardt's father, Michael passes away, Reihnhardt accepts his destiny to be a vampire hunter, and trains daily in the mountains of his homeland of Vallakia As the 10th year in the mountains approaches the end, incidents of monsters attacking children lost in the woods increase. Reihnhardt senses the increased activity in a sign of the return of the dark lord and emerges from the mountain. He seeks out Priest Samuel, the only one that remembers the past, to undo the seal on the symbol of the Vampire Killer, the holy whip, heirloom of the Belmont clan. With weapon in hand, he is a figure of justice from the Belmont family. Many find this individual to be dark and unapproachable, however the reality of the man is a individual of deep responsibility, silent and cool, where underneath a heart burns with fighting spirit. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- | CARRIE FERNANDEZ | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---Originally written by Antookis--- Occupation: Magican Age: 12 Height: 142 cm Weight: 35 kg Likes: Cool Costumes, Speaking Spanish Dislikes: The undead, Dracula, Bad Doggies Main Weapon: Energy Blast Second Weapon: Razor Rings First Costume: Old-style dress; stockings Second Costume: ??? Carrie Fernandez is one of the last known descendants from a Spanish family travelling throughout Europe. The family was rumored to have great magic in the form of a magic orb, however this could never be proven. Though, there were stories of a travelling group that had great success in repelling marauding of their wagon train, human and otherwise. This success was not to last however, when the Patriarchal figurehead of the Fernadez family came under the curse of Dracula and virtually obliterated the family. The survivors fled and were thought to have disappeared. Years later, an orphaned child was found to have a talent for magic. She was a gentle, fragile looking child. Her adopted mother traced her origin back to a travelling band that had thought to have been destroyed. Along with tracing Carrie's heritage, it was discovered that her real parents were condemned as evil by villagers frightened by anything that they could not understand. These memories of her mother being burned by the villagers haunt her to the point that she suspends her belief in a god that did not seem to care and also mistrusting of adults. Tragedy strikes again in Carrie's life when a demonic forces come to ravage their village. Her foster mother is killed while diving to save her. Her grief and terror unlock a greater power within Carrie, a power to create an orb, which she unleashes at the demon that bears down upon her. The orb strikes the beast the writhes in agony as it is banished back to the pit. She vows to stop the terror and heads to the castle. >>>>>The following characters are found in separate games. If you already have a save file, you shouldn't see the message. HINT: A save file takes up 17 pages on a controller pak. Compared to some other games, this is a small amount! After the message, you'll see the Konami and KCEK logos. Immediately after that, there's a scene of a girl being chased through a forest, then she turns around and the screen changes red. Next, you see the game title rising up the screen with Drac's castle in the background, plus the blood red moon. You'll hear and see several lightning flashes, then one big one, and the screen is ready with the GAME START and OPTIONS menus for your choosing. Since options can be chosen later, go ahead and choose GAME START. A menu will appear with GAME START, COPY, DELETE, and EXIT. Press GAME START and if you have a save file, three save files will appear, either empty or with a game in progress. To start a new game, choose a file with NEW GAME on it. It will ask for EASY or NORMAL (HARD later). This guide is from the NORMAL setting, so EASY will be easier to play, and HARD will be harder (DUH!). If you choose a game in progress, it'll ask LOAD GAME or NEW GAME. If you want to continue your game, press LOAD GAME. If you want to start a new one press NEW GAME. NOTE: The game can be completed under any difficulty, and the ending is always the same. After you choose the difficulty, the character select will appear. At the beginning, you can only choose Cornell, but once you beat it, you'll get Henry on the far right (nice armor huh?). As you complete more of the game, you will get HARD difficulty, Reinhardt and Carrie, and the 2nd costumes for Cornell, Reinhardt and Carrie, but not Henry. I guess he likes his armor too much. The 2nd costumes will be available when you see an arrow over the characters. Press up and the name of the character will turn from red to blue, meaning the 2nd costume. Choose character and the book will close to reveal it to be the Necronomicon book of the dead. If you chose the Cornell game, a cool, long cut-scene will occur. You see through the eyes of someone (who happens to be Gilles de Rais) walking through some of the sections of the Castle Main (which is from the Reinhardt and Carrie games). After walking a little, the screen shows assorted messages about the game. Basically early credits. When the last one disappears, you see Gilles walking up the stairs to Dracula's lair in the Castle Keep (last level). The door opens, another credit, and then you see Gilles, Actrise, and Death. Obviously a ceremony is occurring. You see Death, with his sickle, walk up to the coffin where the girl from the chasing scene (when you turned on the game) is laying. Death raises his sickle, then brings it down. It cuts off right before the sickle hits though (darn). Then the coffin rattles, the lid blows off, and Dracula rises up making a ball of fire in his hand. After that, you see a village in flames, and guess what? There are skeletons with flaming sticks walking throughout it too! You see Cornell's feet running on the ground, then a skeleton jumping off a roof and breaking apart on the ground. Then you see Cornell! He runs up to three skeletons, punching over one, roundhouse kick to another, blocks a hit from the third, then barrage punches the skeleton to pieces. He yells out, "Ada! ADA!" He runs past some more baddies, stops at a blazing house, tries to go in, but is stopped by falling planks. He sees his sister's pendant on the ground, picks it up, then fade out. After the fade out, there's the narration, which is actually narrated, very slowly. Near where he says, "Reinhardt Schneider, Carrie Fernandez" Cornell comes into view, walking up to the cliff overlooking Transylvania. Then the game begins. When you start the Henry, Reinhardt, and Carrie games, you just see the narration, no narrator. It shows the different stories and plot for the game ahead. After getting your first glimpse of the character overlooking Transylvania (like Cornell), the game starts. ======================================================== [09] )))))))))))))))))) Foggy Lake ((((((((((((((((((((( ======================================================== Cornell leans at the bow of the boat propelled by a tall, shadowy figure. Can you say Venice? The fog is thick and the air is moist and chilly. The boat approaches the anchor chain and stops. Climbing up the chain and onto the boat, the game has begun! You begin with no special weapons, red jewels, or items. Although, you do have your projectile energy scythe and claw slash, which is good enough for now. The barrels on the deck are the same as the torches, so there are items in them, mostly red jewels. If lucky, you'll get 99 red jewels in this level alone. Move past the first mast and towards the second. One or two fishmen will jump out at you. Defeat them and a platform will appear, allowing you to reach the upper deck. Collect the red jewels and knife in the barrels and climb up to the upper deck. Use the save crystal and break the barrels for red jewels. Find the lever in the mast and pull it. The mast rotates around. Climb on, jump for the lone stack of boxes for a powerup, jump back to the mast, walk to the other mast, and pull the lever there. The mast will rotate, walk along the netting and break the torch for a roast chicken. Climb onto the stern side of the now turned mast, then walk towards the torches on the mast in the distance. There is an invisible walkway here, so don't worry. Break the torches for a roast beef, axe, and red jewels. Go back to the second turned mast, then go towards the bow and you'll see a torch on a box-like platform. Break the torch to get the Deck Key. You'll hear the squeal of fishmen below, so try to be careful where you land on the deck. Go down to the main deck and use the Deck Key to open the door to the lower decks. Once inside, an elevator will come up with a skeleton on it. Blast it away and use the save crystal. Go down the elevator and immediately use your attack. There'll be two skeletons coming towards you and you won't be able to see them until you walk away from the elevator. Kill the skeletons until they stop emerging, then kill the fishman near the door. Break the barrels for money and red jewels. Enter the door and kill the four fishmen that attack. CUT SCENE! You're standing near the wall, and the ship starts to shake. Suddenly, a large claw shoots through the wall, knocking you across the room. Water starts coming through the hole as the claw goes back out. As the ship floods, the cut scene is over. Run in the direction you're facing and you'll see a crate floating. Climb onto the crate and then jump up to the rafters. Walk along the rafters, jump across the pit, avoiding the lantern, turn left, then at the end, turn right and jump to the stairs leading out. The screen blacks out and you hear the ship sinking. The screen reappears with the ship sinking and you on a floating piece of wood. Once the cut scene is over, save at the crystal, then jump along the crates to the stone bridge. Grab the chicken, axe, and red jewels, then jump to the bridge leading towards the exit. As you're running along to the exit, suddenly, the horrible Sea Monster shoots out of the water! !!!!!!!!!! BOSS: SEA MONSTER !!!!!!!!!! This guy isn't too hard, just keep moving back and forth along the bridge. When you see it bring back one of its claws, run away! Sliding when the claw moves close to the bridge is helpful. If it manages to grab you, you'll be flung onto the bridge for some damage. If you see a blue thing come out of its mouth and go into the water, MOVE AWAY FROM IT! The water where the thing landed will burst up, and if you're in the water, you'll be blasted into the air. Just keep moving and attacking it, and you'll have no problems. HINT: If you can chop off the monster's arm off, it'll stop for a few second to heal its arm back. Once the Sea Monster falls back into the water, walk towards the exit, which is now opening. You'll be healed to perfect health when going through. On to the Forest of Silence! ======================================================== [10] ))))))))))))))) Forest Of Silence ((((((((((((((((( ======================================================== As Cornell walks past the gate along the stone walkway, the pine scent of a forest reaches him. The sound of a river fills his ears as it flows underneath him. Enjoying the feeling, he suddenly realizes that there are leaping goblins standing directly in front of him. Preparing for battle, he ventures closer. Above the cliff in front of him is the spirit filled Forest of Silence. Immediately save and run forward towards the green goblins. Using a knife or axe attack is best because it's hard to hit the goblins when they're jumping. Make sure to hit them before they leap at you or you'll be knocked over. Defeat the five goblins and collect the red jewels and money from the torches. The camera will switch to auto view as you climb up the blue platforms up the cliffside. Be careful in this area if you're a first-time player. Jump wrong and you'll fly away and into the water below. After reaching the top of the cliff, the Forest of Silence begins with cliffs around you and a tree in the path. If it's nighttime, lightning will strike the tree and cause it to fall onto the path. The first time might catch you off guard and the tree will fall on you. To avoid it, move to the side of the path. Past the tree is a door with a crest on it. Jump and hit the crest until it blows up, opening the door to see your friend, the Skeleton Boss. !!!!!!!!!! BOSS I: SKELETON BOSS !!!!!!!!!! This guy's more of a push-over than the Sea Monster. He'll first swing his club a few times, then run away to a section of the area. Follow him and start hitting him with energy scythes when he stops and the aiming cursor fixes on his free arm. He'll smash the ground with his club, rising up his little buddies. Just keep hitting big bones and when he runs, then you can hit his apprentices. After doing this five times, he'll grab his skull, yell out, then run away and jump off the cliff. A bridge will rise up to allow you access to the rest of the level. HINT: If you look down where the Skeleton jumped, you can see him walking around in the water. Weird. Run across the bridge and save at the crystal. Ahead you'll see a box-like stone plaza with a statue in the middle. There are also four torches in the area holding money, purifying, cure ampoule, and red jewels. Basically, the statue is pointing the real path out. Don't follow it, the path is blocked by a large iron gate. How do you open it up? Read on to find out. Go left from the bridge to a gap with a platform in the middle of it. Jump to the platform and jump to the other side. You'll see a switch mechanism for the gate. Pull it. A cut scene showing the gate opening, then suddenly a big Weretiger falls in front of you, blocking the path back. !!!!! Mini-BOSS: Weretiger !!!!! This guy's as simple as cake. Just back up from him and start hitting him. His only attack is that he'll pick you up, then smash you into the ground. Wipe him out and he'll burn away leaving a powerup and some money. The platform in the gap reappears, so you can go back to the statue plaza. You pulled a switch and opened a gate, but it's not the one that leads to the exit! Too bad! The other gate is open instead. Save again if you choose to, then go through the gate. Follow the path, get the axe in the torch if you want, and you'll reach a pit with two stones near the far end. Walk around the left side of the pit to the SECOND square structure with a switch inside it. This part is tricky, for you are timed in it. Pull the switch in the second structure, then run back to the first one and pull the switch. Run along the right of the pit then turn to where the stones were. The stones had risen as pillars! Surprise, surprise! Jump across the pillars, but be quick! The pillars will sink if you take too long. Once on the ground beyond the pillars, jump to the two platforms in the gap. Take the right one first, then the left one, and jump to the other side. If it's nighttime, the tree will fall (don't be worried, it won't hit you). Run past it and you'll see a save crystal and another switch mechanism. Save before or after you pull the switch (better after). Cut scene with another gate opening. Three skeletons, exploding or regular, will arise and charge. Take them out then walk back down the path. What's this? A torch is now in the path. Hit it for a powerup. The platforms have descended, so you'll have to go down the blue platforms to them. When down near the river, be quick getting across. If you're too slow, fishmen with jump up and hit you, sometimes knocking you into the water, instantly killing you. To avoid this, get to the other side, and stay on the bottom, then when the fishmen jump up, nail them. When out of danger, jump onto the next platform and climb up the cliffside. Run all the way back to the statue plaza, and you can finally go through the gate! Go across the LEFT bridge (the right one collapses) and through the gate. Save at the crystal and continue along the path. You can jump into the stone structures, but all there are are coffins with enemies in them. They might leave behind some items, if you really feel like you need them. Run along the path, avoiding the falling tree (if it's night) and fall into the cul-de-sac. You'll be attacked by a Werewolf. !!!!! Mini-BOSS: Werewolf !!!!! This guy is a bit harder than the Weretiger, but the tactics are the same. Keep your distance and hit him with energy scythes. He won't attack you unless you hit him, so if he starts getting close, run away, cause he'll slash at you. Once he slashes, he'll stop and wait to be hit again. Continue this process and he'll be history. You can use your werewolf attack here, but you don't really NEED to. Finish him off and he'll burn away, leaving money behind, and two ramps will appear along the cliff. The left ramp leads forward, the right backward. You'll see a skeleton corpse on a stake right next to the ledge path. Check it and you'll get a roast chicken. Go left, hit the torches for a knife and money, and save. Go back right to the cliff. Go down the blue platforms to the island with the last switch mechanism. Pull it, cut scene with the last gate opening, then go back up the cliff. Run towards the open gate, save again, then keep running towards the far end. You can barely make out the castle bridge raised up against the castle wall from here. Pass by the middle and the big bad Skeleton Boss will climb up the cliff to face you again! !!!!!!!!!! BOSS II: SKELETON BOSS-ROUND 2 !!!!!!!!!! He's not all that much harder this time, but it takes longer to beat him this time. Use the same tactics as last time, but after hitting him out the first time, he'll start crackling with electricity and run towards the middle. Get far away from the middle at this point and run around in a circle in a big loop around the middle. He'll first jump into the air, and send a shockwave into the ground. He'll run back into the middle, lean onto his bony hands and start spewing poison gas. It won't poison you until you get too much of it. Run behind him, then send a barrage of energy scythes into him. After this, he should loose his left hand, and maybe part of the arm too. Avoid the arm, it still moves and it'll hurt you if you touch it. He'll run again, and now you'll be hitting him in the ribs and torso. He'll attack with the shockwave and poison gas again. When he's back where he started near the cliff, attack with full vigor. He'll eventually loose his legs and try to pull himself along with his lone arm. Just blow him away from here. After the skull flies off, check it for a roast chicken, then walk to the cliff where he emerged. CUT SCENE! The bridge lowers in front of Cornell, and hesitating, he'll start to walk across the bridge and onto the Castle Wall. ======================================================== [11] ))))))))))))))))) Castle Wall ((((((((((((((((((((( ======================================================== Cornell walks into the Castle Wall and tries to lift up the gate. Instead, the gate and bridge behind him close and lock him in. Here, you'll meet Ortega for the first time. Kinda weird looking if you ask me. You learn that Ortega and Cornell know each other and you get the hint that Ortega had turned to evil, and then he leaves. First off, this level is short, but you have to retrace it twice, so it gets long. Save immediately once the cut scene is over. To the left is the moon door and to the right is the sun door. You can only go through the moon door when it's night and the sun door when it's day. You can go through either tower at this point, but I'd advise that you go through the moon door tower first. Remember right now...that the first gate is closed and the second gate (where Ortega entered) is open. Reason to go through moon door first? Well, the sun tower is harder, and it's a waste to go up it first, since there is no lever there at the top. You can either wait out for it to be night, or get it quickly with a moon card. To get one, enter through the sun door, climb up the stairs and avoid the obstacles till you reach the second gap with a moving platform. Wait till it's close to you, jump onto it, then jump forward, close to the wall, but don't jump to the other side. If you're close enough to the wall, you'll fall on a ledge above the door with a torch on top. Hit the torch for a moon card. This might take a few tries if you're an amateur. Go through the moon door and you'll notice most of the floor is gone. Maybe something happened earlier? The towers are both pretty straight forward, just keep trying everything. Above the door is a ledge with a torch on it with a sun card inside (just like in the sun tower is the moon card). To get there, go to where the first guillotine is, then jump towards the other side, but don't grab onto it, just fall and keep pressing forward, you'll land on the ledge and access to the sun card. Also at the four rotating green platforms, to the right is a small ledge with a torch on it. Inside the torch is a roast beef. If you want it, jump to the ledge, get the beef, then walk back to the green platforms on an invisible bridge. Watch out for the green stairway, stay in one spot too long and you fall through and fall to your doom. Go through the door at the top, pull the switch, get the torch on top of the door for a roast chicken. Behind the door is a little stone, hit it several times for a large pile of money. Save before you go through the opening in the wall near the crystal. Drop down floor to floor, getting the torches along the way (one has a moon card). On top of the broken pillar in the middle is a powerup. At the bottom is a bone pillar, destory it, then get the winch lever on the shelf behind it (you will need it). The first gate is now open, but the back one is closed now, so you still can't exit. Get the axe and purifying from the torches if you want, and save again. Use a sun card or wait for daytime and enter through the sun door. This one is easier than the other tower, but don't take it lightly. There are a lot of bone pillars here and jumping across the moving platforms is tricky. Once at the top, get the roast chicken, save, and open the door. !!!!! Mini-BOSS: TWIN HEADED SERPENT !!!!! This guy can be easy if you know what to do. I suggest going behind the door, climb on top of it, get in the middle and start firing away. If you're too close to the edge you might get hit with beams of fire. After hitting one head enough, it'll burn black and crisp. Instead of shooting balls, it'll fire a beam of fire, so stay back from the edge. Just keep hitting it and it'll burn away. Do the same thing with the second one. When the second one burns away, collect as many of the items it leaves behind as you can. Get the chicken in the torch on top of the door, then go to the switch mechanism. Replace the winch lever, pull it, and all the gates will close. Why? Oh well, go through the opening in the wall, drop down, save, then continue down to the bottom like before. Save and the bottom and go through the moon door again, using a moon card if necessary. Climb back up and pull the lever again. Both gates will open this time. Exit to the bottom again, save, then go through the now open back gate. Onward to the Villa & Garden Maze! ======================================================== [12] )))))))))))) Villa & Garden Maze (((((((((((((((((( ======================================================== Cornell walks through the gate and stops to look around. He sees a metal fence and gate with some ugly statues atop it. He also sees some movement behind the gate and senses danger. To make things worse, the gate suddenly closes behind him. He turns back to the gate to see a three-headed Cerberus Hound jumping over the gate and heads straight for him. Quickly, I'll just say right now that this is a pretty long level. You'll be running everywhere from this point, and you might get tired of it after awhile. Try to stay with me on this one, now prepare for battle! First, two Cerberus Hounds will start attacking you, hit them as fast as you can. If you're too slow, the third one will creep up on you, but if you dispose of them quickly, you can be ready for the slower third one. Once the third is dead, the gates will open. Don't walk through them yet! A second pair of Cerberus Hounds will jump over the fence and into the path. Destroy these as fast as you can, cause they can shoot fire at you. After they're dead, wait a few seconds and the screen will turn blackish, like a dark night. Cool effects, huh? The final Cerberus will jump into the path and head towards you. If you can attack fast, it's the easiest. But, it can breathe fire and turn invisible too. Once it's gone, the second gate will open to the courtyard area. Get the two torches on each side of the fighting area if you want, but make sure to get the roast beef on the path. The courtyard is small, and no real danger anywhere. Save at the crystal to the left. You'll notice that there are five tombstones in the area. Four have switches on them, and the lone one tells you what to do to raise the pillar in the water fountain. You'll have to do this eventually, so just do it now. The four tombstones in order are: Master J.A. Oldrey, Mary, Henry, and then the unreadable tombstone. If you did it right, you'll hear the pillar rising. Get the items on top. CLUE: On the ground in the courtyard are a roast beef and a powerup, see if you can find them! Enter the double doors on the other side to enter the Villa. If you noticed, the main room of the Villa looks like the front room from the first Resident Evil for PSX, but that doesn't matter! Run up the stairs and...CUT SCENE! A vampire dude will scurry along the wall, then jump, doing some acrobatic moves, and land in front of you. This guy is easy, just try not to get bitten. Once he burns away, get the items from the candles, and go through the door to the right. The room following has a roast chicken and a save crystal. Save and go through the other door. You're now in the Garden Maze. This is the back entrance, for future reference. Enter through the iron gate, then start running down the loooonnnnggg trail. You'll encounter three motorcycle skeletons along the way, no problem. Pick up the purifying and cure ampoule as well. Enter the maze through the wood door. The area is your's to explore, for now. Watch out for bone pillars, earthborns, and little snakes (weird huh?). There are two items you need, Crest Half B and the Rose Garden Key. The Crest Half B is left, right, then up the stairway from the entrance to the maze. Unusual finding a stairway in the middle of a garden leading to nothing. The Rose Garden Key from the entrance of the maze, is left, right, right, left, left, right, left, right, left, left, right, then left through the arch. If you tried to get into the Thorn Garden (the enclosed area in the metal fence), you can't, you need the Thorn Key first. Go back the way you came and back to the Villa. Go up the stairs to the second floor. Hit the vases for the Archives Key and some red jewels. Check the couch for a purifying. Enter through the door to the left and go through the breezeway to the double doors. Use the Rose Garden Key here. Inside is a beautiful garden of white roses. At 6:00 AM (sunrise), you'll see a sparkle and some red roses among the white roses around the pillar in the middle. Check the red roses for the Thorn Key. Take a pause here, you have the Thorn Key. You can do this either now or later. Go back to the main room, down the stairs and through the door to the back entrance to the garden. Go down the long path again, and enter the maze. Take a left, right, right, and left. You'll see the Thorn Garden ahead. Turn right and left to find the entrance to it. Use the Thorn Key here. Go inside and hit the four torches for red jewels and the Rose Brooch. Take the Rose Brooch back out of the maze and garden to the main room of the Villa. Go out through the double doors to the courtyard and water fountain. Climb on the pillar in the fountain, jump onto the fountain, then climb onto the very top. There'll be a shining point at the very tip. Place the Rose Brooch here with the check button. You'll get Crest Half A. Now, make your way back to the Rose Garden. Go through the other door into the living area of the Villa. Hit the candle for red jewels, go up the stairs, turn right for a knife and/or axe, then go into the first door on the left. CUT SCENE! It looks like a bedroom, and there's a man knocking on a door, begging for his wife to open the door. She tells him to go away, but he's so thirsty, he needs a drink. The man is J.A. Oldrey, the curator of the Villa. He turns to you and tells you to go away. You ask him about Ada, but he doesn't seem to know anything. Suddenly, he turns in an opposite direction and transforms into a vampire. Now you get to fight! Destroy him quickly, he's easy, then enter the door he was trying to get into. Here you'll meet Mary, wife of Oldrey. She tells you about Henry in the garden and askes you to save him. Get the Garden Maze Key on the table and the cross in the vase, then exit into the hallway. Run forward and you'll run into a glass knight. Destroy it, then enter the second door, the first is locked. Once in the room, turn left, jump on the shelf and check the lion mask for a roast chicken. Go back into the main area, and break the vases for the Storeroom Key and another roast chicken. Go back out of this room and turn right to use the Storeroom Key. Inside the Storeroom is a roast chicken, roast beef, and a save crystal. Use these. Go back out to the hallway and go all the way to the other side. Enter the door at the far end, go around the table, enter the next door, enter the next door using the Archives Key, and search. The only thing useful is the diary on the table in the middle. It's J.A. Oldrey's diary, and he gives you a clue to the courtyard tombstone puzzle. You've already done it, so don't worry about it. Go back out into the hallway and take the first door. Enter through the double doors to a white staircase. Walk all the way down to a CUT SCENE! Here you'll meet Renon, the salesdemon. He tells you that whenever you find a Contract, pick it up and you can buy stuff from him. Careful not to buy too much from Renon during the game, or he'll fight you at the Castle Keep. Renon's Contract ----------------------- |Healing Kit - 4,000 | |Roast Beef - 3,000 | |Roast Chicken - 2,500| |Purifying - 500 | |Cure Ampoule - 200 | |Sun Card - 300 | |Moon Card - 500 | ----------------------- After Renon leaves, use the contract if you need it, check the knight for a purifying, use the save crystal, then exit to the garden. This is the front door to the garden. Use the Garden Maze Key (those dog statues are creepy), then take the first left. Run towards the bridge, ignoring the right turn. CUT SCENE! Hey look, it's Henry, but wait, oh no! It's Chainsaw Frankenstein! He's trying to chop Henry in half! Run Henry, RUN! Whew, he got away! Cornell smells Henry coming and turns around. Henry goes to Cornell and talks to him. Cornell tells Henry that he's there to get him out of that garden. As they start to leave, you'll get info on the rescue attempt. Read carefully. The game resumes and you'll see Chainsaw Franky running towards you. Hit him two or three times to stop him for now. Turn left and enter through the door. Here is where it really starts. A few tips, Henry is slow, so don't run. Don't rush this, if you do, you'll fail. Just go slowly and be cautious for Chainsaw Franky. You can easily complete this without Henry, or you getting hurt once. Just turn when you here the chainsaw getting loud, or use Henry's View to check behind you. You know that Chainsaw Franky's there if Henry screams, "Help me!" The path from the door is left, right, right, left, left, right, right, left, right, left, right, right, left, left, right. Once you reach the door, you and Henry will go through, and you'll open the gate to the left to let Henry escape. Cornell will give him the pendant for protection, and Henry flees. Now is a good time to get the Rose Brooch in the Thorn Garden (see above), but now you'll have Chainsaw Franky chasing you again. FUNNY THING TO DO: If you let Chainsaw Franky chase you to the Thorn Garden and you go inside, Franky will start doing laps around it. He could run the mile-run easily at that speed! Just be careful going back out! Make your way back to Mary in the Villa and she'll give you the Copper Key for saving Henry. Go back into the maze through the front entrance (where you met Renon). Usually Chainsaw Franky won't bother you from here, but I can't promise anything. Go straight through the arch and go around the right side of the stairway and take a right. The Copper Door will be in front of you. Use the Copper Key, run through the little stream to the right, and just onto the bridge. Turn left at the bridge and you'll see a torch with a purifying and a save crystal. Save and check the door. You'll place the two crest halves on the door and it'll open. Go down the stairs and you'll run into... !!!!!!!!!! BOSS: GILLES DE RAIS !!!!!!!!!! To tell you, Gilles is a showoff. He'll charge you fast, so hit him as fast as you can. Try to keep away from him, he's good at biting. The only other thing he'll do is throw fireballs at you, which are easy to dodge. Just keep hitting him fast and he'll be finished quickly. Gilles will be flung back towards the coffin and he'll get up (how do they do that?), bleeding from his shoulder. He starts talking, then you see Actrise to the left of you. The both of them seem to be talking gibberish, but they're basically saying that you are stronger than they thought and you should put up a good fight against Dracula, nothing more. They disappear and leave you alone. Get the items from the six torches in the room, then go over to the coffin. Hit the coffin till the lid disappears. A secret passage will open up inside. Jump into the coffin, and onto the next level, the Outer Wall! PLEASE NOTE!
